Kyoku SKN-EY 243: Eye Fuel

Eye Fuel is actually two products in one. The dual-head bottle contains "eye radiance creme" and "uplifting eye gel" to be used together or separately on the under-eye area as desired. Combined, the gel and creme are supposed reduce wrinkles and bagginess while brightening dark circles. Unfortunately, after a couple weeks of use, they did none of the above. Each time I used Eye Fuel, I combined the two products on my finger and patted the mixture on under my eyes. The first two times I used it, there was a slight burning sensation that subsided fairly quickly but was nevertheless unpleasant. On the plus side, the box is a fairly entertaining, mildly pretentious, brief read with its talk of two(!) different micro technologies with some light scattering particles thrown in for good measure.

L'Occitan After Shave Balm by L'Occitane en Provence

For the past few weeks I've been using L'Occitan primarily on my neck due to the fact that I am in high beard season. I can honestly say this is the best after shave I've ever used. Typically, after a full shave, my neck gets covered in serious ingrown hair bumps and razor burn while my face goes unscathed (I use a single blade safety razor.) I've tried so many combinations of gels, liquids, balms, ointments, and unguents that my medicine cabinet looks like a barbershop that specializes in hot shaves for burn victims. After one use, my neck showed no signs of trauma. Continued use yielded the same results. The alcohol-free balm is soothing and smooth and lacks any greasiness while not being overly liquid. The scent is pleasantly spicy without being overpowering. Another nice thing about this product is that a little bit is all you need at a time. So, if you're an occasional shaver like me, you'll get a lot of traction out of a single tube. If you dread shaving for the same reasons I did, I highly recommend trying L'Occitan.

Lush~Dirty

After years of obsessing over Lush's products and attempting to coerce him into their amazingly potent stores, I recently gifted my husband with several products from the Lush "Dirty" collection for men. He was able to sample the Body Spray, Shaving Cream, and Hair Styling Cream.

As with EVERY Lush product I've ever met, my nose was instantly in heaven. Can a nose be happy?? Because mine was. There is nothing better than a delicious smelling husband.

The Body Spray comes in an adorable, masculine bottle, almost resembling a cleaning product, which my husband really dug. The scent does come out very strong at first spritz, but tapers off over time to a yummy, manly mist.

The Shaving Cream  he found better for man-scaping of the body (you MUST not let him know that I outted him!), rather than for his whiskers or other facial needs.

The Styling Cream was a huge hit and probably a product that he will continue to purchase and use. This man looooves his hair products and is a tough audience, but he shared that Lush's Dirty Styling Cream provided for great manageability, did not weigh things down, and of course, an unforgettable scent.

If this is Dirty, I don't wanna be clean.

Leonor Greyl Paris

My adorable husband (who has beautiful hair-especially if he asks you what I wrote about him!) recently gave four luxurious Leonor Greyl products a 30 day trial. My man tried out the Styling Cream for Dry Hair, Gentle Volumizing Shampoo, Vitalizing Leave-In Treatment, and Hair Loss Leave-In Treatment. He lathered, rinsed, repeated, styled, coiffed, and reported back.

Styling Cream for Dry Hair: My hubby is a bit of a hair wax, pomade, styling cream connoisseur. His report on this product: Comme ci, comme ca. "Nothing too exciting", he says. Although we were both big fans of the scent of this product (of all Leonor Greyl's products, actually), my gorgeous life partner expressed feeling underwhelmed by this cream's lack of manageability and hold.

Gentle Volumizing Shampoo: We both give this product deux jusqu'a pouces (my High School French is iffy, but I believe that roughly translates into "two thumbs up"). Again, with a light, clean scent, this wash felt lavish in the hands and really special on the head.

Vitalizing Leave-In Treatment: I enjoyed this product more so than my male counterpart. I found this leave-in to wake my locks up, allowing for a great blow dry. He felt it weighed his hair down.

Hair Loss Leave-in Treatment: Although he truly has nothing to worry about yet (seriously, will you all tell him that, please??!), my husband was stoked to try out this product, as he, like most men, fears that his hair is thinning in certain areas. This was by far the best product of the bunch. My mister reports that his hair felt thicker all over, but most noticeably where he felt it was previously thinner. He shared that he did not necessarily see new growth, but that he felt more confident with his (already amazing) head of hair after 2 weeks of use. Mon dieu!!
